WELCOME “HOME”!!

Galiano Island is passionate about hospitality and welcoming visitors to our island, and now we once again can. Visitors can once again enjoy recreational and other non-essential travel to Galiano Island and the Southern Gulf Islands.

COVID 19

What remains constant is this: Please observe social distance guidelines, masks and hand-washing and sanitizing protocols.

  • Social distancing, masks and hand-sanitizing are still requirements…and good sense. Please observe it wherever you are. We follow the guidelines of our Health Care providers.
  • Volunteers are available virtually, via facebook and instagram, to answer any questions you might have about travel and services. Or email us at info@galianoisland.com. We are available 7 days a week to answer questions.

Please understand that the current COVID-19 situation remains fluid, with government regulations and health guidelines changing rapidly. We monitor provincial health update closely to ensure both our visitors and residents remain safe and informed.  For up-to-date status, check with British Columbia travel information:https://www.hellobc.com/what-you-need-to-know/

Tourist Booth

The Galiano Island Chamber of Commerce operates an information booth on Sturdies Bay Road, just up from the ferry. The booth is not always staffed but maps and brochures are available year-round. If you have questions about visiting Galiano, you can email us anytime at: info@galianoisland.com

What to Bring

Just bring yourselves! Almost everything else is available on island. You do not have to bring food or beverages: two well-stocked grocery stores operate year-round, as do a bakery and three liquor/wine/beer outlets. Be sure to bring all-weather clothing, as clothing stores are limited. While there is no pharmacy, the grocery stores do carry general remedies; and there is a Hardware Store/Lumber Yard for everything from kitchenware to building materials.

What to Buy

"Leave Room in Your Suitcase" - Galiano presents a wide range of temptations for you. Boasting the highest percentage of artists per capita in the Province, Galiano offers internationally acclaimed and collected arts & crafts. You will certainly find something on Galiano to bring back memories of your West Coast experience: from sculptures to paintings, hand-crafted soaps, handmade preserves and so much more.

Water Conservation

Despite the West Coast’s reputation for rainfall, Galiano is in fact very dry in the summer months and water conservation is an absolute must. Please! Limit water usage.

Fire Safety

Campfires are often banned on Galiano Island. Our forests are tinder-dry in summer, and the risk of fire is extremely high. Current conditions are posted prominently near the ferry and at the South and North Volunteer Fire Departments: ensure you always have current fire danger ratings and instructions.
